Baked Candied Yams

Ingredients:

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

  1. In a large saucepan at moderate heat, add yams (or sweet potatoes), cover with water and boil 30 minutes in water to cover.  

  2. Allow them to cool.  Melt butter.

  3. In another saucepan at low heat, add the sugar and water and melt the sugar.

  4. Butter an 11x13-inch baking pan.  Peel yams (or sweet potatoes) and cut lengthwise.  

  5. Lay the potatoes in the pan in one layer.  Spoon the melted butter.  Then spoon the melted sugar. 

  6. Baked 35 to 45 minutes or until candied.
