Stovetop “Baked” Beans

All the taste of oven baked beans without the extra heat or time.

Prep Time: 5 min.
Cooking Time: 30 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 - slice bacon, coarsely chopped

  • 1/2 - medium onion, chopped

  • 1 - can (28-ounces) Pork and Beans

  • 1/4 - cup Ketchup

  • 1/8 - cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 - Tablespoon spicy brown mustard

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, your first step is to cook bacon until crisp. 

  2. Then add the onion and cook until onion is soft. 

  3. Then add in the pork & beans, ketchup, brown sugar and mustard. 

  4. Stir and bring to a boil.

  5. Finally, reduce your heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Picnicking & Tailgating

You want to make this recipe a day or two ahead.  Just heat and place in thermos or thermal containers and head to the picnic or tailgate site.  Just serve out of the thermal container or pour from the thermos.
